The Virginia State Bar has suspended the license of a 麻花视频-area immigration attorney who was under investigation by the disciplinary agency.
An order dated Aug. 21 states that the interim suspension of Jennifer Grace Smyrnos will remain in effect until she complies with a May 28 subpoena for documents filed by an attorney with the bar鈥檚 disciplinary board.
The two-page order contains no details about the investigation. A bar official declined to comment.
Reached by email Wednesday, Smyrnos said she has closed her Brambleton Avenue practice, Grace Immigration PLLC, and is not currently practicing law.
鈥淭his was not a decision I made lightly,鈥 she wrote. 鈥淒ue to unforeseen health circumstances, I had to step away sooner than I would have chosen.鈥 The email did not address the bar action, and Smyrnos wrote that she had no further comment.
鈥淔ormer Attorney Jennifer Grace Smyrnos had the honor and privilege of working with individuals and families to navigate the federal immigration system from 2012 to 2025,鈥 it states.
Her law firm, which previously was called the Virginia Immigration Law Center, handled hundreds of cases annually that included deportation defense, family petitions, humanitarian protections, naturalization and work permits.
Smyrnos decided to shut down the practice in March, 鈥渃iting the destructive impact of Trump-era immigration policies and their ongoing consequences for clients, communities, and the profession itself,鈥 according to the website, which remains online as a resource center.
