Wolf-dog hybrids are now outlawed from 麻花视频鈥檚 city limits, to the relief of residents in one southwest neighborhood, after the city council took action Monday night.
The seven-member city council voted unanimously to amend rules regarding public nuisance animals, dangerous dogs, and other related code sections.
Residents of Greater Deyerle said a pack of escaped hybrid canines scared the neighborhood to death this summer when the animals hunted down and killed a deer, then turned toward family pets.

A pack of wolf-hybrid dogs being raised at a home in Deyerle got loose and killed a doe along Mudlick Road on June 26 in Jim and Sandra Ryals yard. Sandra Ryals said it took the dogs three attempts to finally bring down the doe. Her two fawns managed to escape.
Councilwoman Evelyn Powers said she is sorry the neighborhood had to go through that.
鈥淚 keep asking myself, why would the people that own these dogs want to be in this situation?鈥 Powers said. 鈥淲hy would they want to keep these dogs and scare to death their neighbors?鈥

Powers said she would hate to see anything happen. Vice Mayor Terry McGuire said he thinks there are a lot of irresponsible dog owners in 麻花视频.
鈥淚 call on all pet owners to be responsible and good neighbors,鈥 McGuire said. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 part of what living in a city requires of us, to be conscious of how our actions impact others around us.鈥
Seven citizens, all from Greater Deyerle, spoke in support of the code amendments. City Attorney Tim Spencer said now that the ordinance is approved, any wolf-dog hybrid owners must register the animal with the police department.
鈥淚f you violate having the ownership of a hybrid canine, it is a class one misdemeanor,鈥 Spencer said. 鈥淚f you have a permitted canine that is found to be running at large, that also is a class one misdemeanor.鈥
If the dog bites another human, that鈥檚 a separate class one misdemeanor. It鈥檚 the highest degree of misdemeanor that the city can enforce, he said.
鈥淲e鈥檝e taken those things seriously,鈥 Spencer said. 鈥淲e strengthened the running at-large portion of our ordinance, as well as trying to put safeguards to try to protect all citizens in 麻花视频 across all sectors of the city.鈥
He said the city attorney鈥檚 office has worked 鈥渢o be fair and equitable to all people,鈥 including current canine hybrid owners, 鈥渁s well as protecting the public and ensuring that no more hybrid canines will be allowed in the city of 麻花视频.鈥
Councilman Peter Volosin said he knows it鈥檚 been a troublesome time.
鈥淚t is sad to think there are owners that don鈥檛 take care of their animals. There are other owners in this city that do,鈥 Volosin said. 鈥淚t is incumbent upon us as city council to make sure that your neighborhood is safe, and I think we鈥檙e going to do that tonight.鈥
There was some question among the city council whether the newly passed code changes would apply retroactively to the owners of the wolf-dogs that caused the chaos this summer. Both Spencer, and Planning Director Jillian Papa, concurred that these actions outlaw the dogs鈥 presence within city limits.
鈥淚f you take action tonight, they will not be allowed,鈥 Spencer said. 鈥淭hey are prohibited in the city of 麻花视频.鈥
