LYNCHBURG — A man who was found injured in his home on Bedford Avenue on Tuesday evening from what police believe was a gunshot wound was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Lynchburg Police Department.
At about 6:40 p.m., police responded to a report of an injured man in the 2000 block of Bedford Avenue.
When they arrived at the scene, officers found several people performing life-saving measures on the 25-year-old man, according to the LPD. The victim, identified as Zaykeese Amarius Brown, was pronounced dead after medics transported him to Centra's Lynchburg General Hospital, police said in a news release Tuesday night.

According to the LPD’s preliminary investigation, Brown, who was at his home, had been playing video games in an online chat room with friends. After Brown suddenly stopped communicating in the chat room, his friends went to his home to check on him.
Upon discovering Brown, his friends called 911 and spoke with the Emergency Communication Center. A dispatcher instructed them to perform life-saving measures.
The friends continued the life-saving measures until police officers and Lynchburg Fire Department crews arrived on scene, according to the LPD.
Police described the incident as a malicious wounding.
