Virginia Tech catcher David McCann is turning pro, but Virginia Tech signee Aiden Robertson is not.
McCann has signed with the New York Yankees as an undrafted free agent, according to a tweet from the Falmouth Commodores, the team McCann had been playing for in the Cape Cod League this summer.
McCann was not chosen in the Major League Baseball amateur draft, which concluded Monday.
He has only two years of college under his belt, but he was eligible for the draft and to be signed as a free agent because he has already turned 21 years old.
McCann hit .275 with 12 doubles, 11 homers and 27 RBIs as a Tech sophomore this year.
Robertson was a first-team junior-college All-American pitcher at Walters State Community College in Tennessee as a sophomore this year. He was drafted by Texas in the 13th round Monday.听

Robertson announced Wednesday on Twitter that he is sticking with his plan to attend Virginia Tech and will not be signing with Texas.
"I have been a Rangers fan since birth, especially being from the central Texas area, and I wouldn't rather pitch for another MLB team," he wrote in his Twitter statement. "Me and my family have had countless prayers throughout the last 24 hours and we all have come to an agreement that Virginia Tech's staff truly wants the best for me as a player and a person.
"I understand that there are much more plentiful opportunities that lie ahead of me as long as I progress in the sport. I want to further my education and make this decision be about what's best for me in 10 years, not what's best for me at this moment."
Robertson was 13-1 with 130 strikeouts, 31 walks and a 4.12 ERA in 89 2/3 innings as a sophomore this year. He led National Junior College Athletic Association Division I in strikeouts. He went 3-0 in four postseason starts this year, including a 2-0 mark in the NJCAA Division I World Series.
He signed with Tech last fall.
