JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Virginia Tech standout Christian Jackson won the men’s 800 meters Friday on the third day of the NCAA East outdoor track and field meet.
He had a time of 1:45.31. Teammate Nick Plant was sixth (1:45.90) in that event.
The top 12 finishers in each event at the meet advance to next month’s NCAA national championships.
Virginia Tech’s Uladzislau Puchko took second in the men’s discus (199 feet).
Gary Martin of Virginia finished third in the 1,500 meters (3:38.94).
UVa’s Will Daley finished third in the 5,000 (13:39.97), with teammate Justin Wachtel 11th (14:07.91).
Alex Sherman of UVa took ninth in the men’s 400 hurdles (50.13).
Virginia Tech’s Declan Rymer was 11th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:41.11).
On the women’s side, Virginia Tech’s Chiara Sistermann took second in the pole vault (13-11), with Tech’s Lyndsey Reed fourth and 2023 NCAA champ Julia Fixsen of the Hokies fifth.
UVa’s Jenny Schilling finished ninth in the women’s 10,000 meters (32.51.43).

Virginia Tech outfielder Cori McMillan has been named a first-team All-American by
McMillan, the ACC player of the year, hit .432 with 65 RBIs, a school-record 31 homers, a league-best 75 runs scored and a league-high .549 on-base percentage. She was taken in the first round of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League draft.
Virginia Tech third baseman Jordan Lynch (.381, 10 homers, 43 RBIs) and Radford ace Dakota Redmon (16-8, 2.45 ERA, 123 strikeouts) made the website’s Freshman All-America second team.

Virginia Tech adds Michigan transfer
Virginia Tech has announced the signing of former Michigan wrestler Jaden Bullock.
Bullock, a Portsmouth native, went 2-2 at the 2024 NCAA championships at 184 pounds. He took ninth at the Big Ten championships as a fifth-year senior this year.
Bullock spent five seasons at Michigan. He redshirted in the 2021-22 season and missed most of the 2022-23 season with an injury. He is joining Tech for the extra year of eligibility that the NCAA gave all 2020-21 winter-sports athletes because of the coronavirus pandemic.
