Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has said that he is focusing on getting his left knee healthy ahead of training camp in September. James, who is set to enter his 23rd season in the NBA, suffered an MCL sprain in Game 5 of the Lakers’ first-round playoff defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves. “I have a lot of time to take care of my injury, my knee, the rest of my body, and make sure I'm as close to 100 percent as possible when training camp begins in late September,” LeBron James told the Associated Press. While retirement rumors continue to swirl, James, who said his knee is feeling “good,” isn’t ready to call it quits yet, crediting his family for pushing him to “continue on your dream.” James has a $56.2 million player option with the Lakers for next season before potentially becoming a free agent in 2026. However, the 40-year-old has previously stated that it would be “crazy” to think he could play with his son Bryce James, who is draft eligible next summer. James, a 21-time All-Star, has shared the NBA floor with his eldest son, Bronny James, who was drafted by LA with the 55th pick in 2024.
LeBron James may be daydreaming about deals in his new Amazon commercial, but there's no fantasy when it comes to his real-life focus: getting his knee healthy for training camp.
