Virginia Tech men鈥檚 basketball coach Mike Young has scooped up his third transfer of the spring.
Tech announced Wednesday it has signed former UNLV guard Jailen Bedford, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Bedford played in 33 games as a UNLV senior this year, starting eight. He averaged 10.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 23.4 minutes. He sank 56 3-pointers for the Mountain West Conference team.
He scored 20 points against Creighton. He scored 18 points against Fresno State and 17 points against Colorado State. He tallied 16 points against San Jose State. He tallied 15 points against Northwestern. He scored 14 points against Wyoming. He had 13 points against Mississippi State, Fresno State, San Jose State, Air Force and Utah State.
Bedford scored in double figures in 10 of UNLV鈥檚 final 11 games.

鈥淛ailen really came on strong toward the end of the season for UNLV,鈥 Young said in a Tech news release. 鈥淲e believe his skill set and leadership will be invaluable to us this upcoming season.鈥
UNLV fired Kevin Kruger as its coach last month and replaced him with former Georgia Tech coach Josh Pastner.
Bedford began his college career at a junior college. He will be able to play next season because the NCAA ruled in December that current Division I athletes who previously played for a junior college and who would have been out of eligibility after the 2024-25 school year can have an extra year of eligibility for the 2025-26 school year.
The Texas native spent his junior season at Summit League member Oral Roberts, starting all 31 of the team鈥檚 games. He averaged 14.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 30.2 minutes. He sank 66 3-pointers.

He had 26 points and six 3-pointers for Oral Roberts in a game against Texas Tech. He had 23 points and five 3-pointers against Kansas State. He had 13 points against Oklahoma State. He had 24 points and five 3-pointers against Omaha. He had 23 points against Montana State. He had 22 points and four 3-pointers against St. Thomas.
Bedford spent his first two college seasons at Trinidad State, a Colorado junior college.
Young added two players from the transfer portal earlier in April 鈥 former West Virginia forward Amani Hansberry and former Delaware point guard Izaiah Pasha.
Young added Antonio Dorn, a center from Germany, last weekend.
The addition of Bedford gives the Hokies 10 scholarship players for next season鈥檚 roster, including Tobi Lawal, who has entered the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. If Lawal returns to college basketball, he intends to remain with the Hokies.
Lawal is one of four returning scholarship players, along with Tyler Johnson, Ben Hammond and Jaden Schutt.
Young signed two high school recruits last fall 鈥 Christian Gurdak and Sin鈥機ere Jones.
