Here are some quick-hitting notes from the availability:

禄 Offensive guard Brody Meadows听may not join the offensive line rotation any time soon. The redshirt junior has not played this season and is questionable to return this season.

鈥淚 think Brody is going to be out,鈥� Montgomery said.

禄 Meadows was the Hokies鈥� top backup offensive lineman entering the season. Auburn transfer Jaden Muskrat, who played for Montgomery at Tulsa, also hasn鈥檛 played. With Montavious Cunningham and Johnny Garrett injured, Tech was already playing two additional redshirt freshmen on the offensive line in Aidan Lynch and Tommy Ricard. True freshman Gavin Crawford played the majority of the game at both right and left guard after Layth Ghannam went down with an injury. It was Crawford鈥檚 college debut.

鈥淎gain, where we are from a depth standpoint, Gavin did a nice job the other night, got kind of thrown into the fire,鈥� Montgomery said. 鈥淭hought he reacted well. He鈥檚 going to continue to grow, he鈥檚 had a good week of work and we鈥檒l see how the year kind of plays itself out, but I know he is locked in to doing whatever he can to help our football team.鈥�

禄 So, what about the rest of the offensive line?

鈥淲e鈥檙e getting better, we鈥檙e getting healthier,鈥� Montgomery said. 鈥淎re we going to be 100% by this Saturday? Probably not, but we鈥檙e continuing to gain momentum in that area. Obviously, it鈥檚 a big area of concern, but those guys are, again, doing everything they can to get back and we kind of take it day-by-day.鈥�

禄 Montgomery, as the offensive coordinator, called the first three games from the coaches booth. He鈥檒l be down on the field as the interim coach. Will there be anyone replacing him in the booth to provided eyes in the sky?

鈥淵eah, we鈥檙e working through that part of it,鈥� Montgomery said. 鈥淥bviously, I鈥檓 coming back down on the field and we鈥檒l kind of see how we adjust a little bit, whether I put another set of eyes in the box or how we kind of make that work.鈥�

禄 Cornerback Dante Lovett is the only player who has officially entered the transfer portal since the 30-day window opened Monday following Brent Pry鈥檚 firing. How is Montgomery expecting to handle players who enter the portal? Will they continue to work with the team and be on the scout team as other players are elevated into a rotation? Or will they not be part of the team moving forward?

鈥淲e鈥檙e going to work through that as a staff and work through that as an administration,鈥� Montgomery said. 鈥淎s we come to where we鈥檙e at with all of it, then we鈥檒l let that play itself out.鈥�
