BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — VMI's Nick Brown and Keyandre Midgett each won a title at the Southern Conference outdoor track and field championships, which concluded Tuesday.
Brown won the 400 meters (47.52 seconds).
Midgett won the long jump (23 feet, 11 inches). He has now claimed the long jump title at this year's indoor and outdoor SoCon meets and last year's indoor and outdoor Socon meets. VMI's Zachary Denton took second in that event (23-3 1/4).
Midgett took second in the triple jump (48-10), while teammate Cameron Thomas was second in the pole vault (15-11).
VMI's Tazewell Ray was third in shot put (51-10 1/2.
The VMI foursome of Kevin Koumandji, Jeremiah Wilks, Midgett and Brown took third in the 4x100 relay (41.93). The quartet of Anthony Wilkerson, Wilks, Isaac Osuna and Brown took third in the 4x400 relay (3:18.96).

On the women's side, Glenvar graduate Carly Wilkes of Furman finished second in the 5,000 (16:40.43).
VMI's Shea Hart was third in the heptathlon with 4,417 points.
VMI women's standout Eleyah Armstrong missed the meet with an injury.
Samford swept the men's and women's team titles at the two-day meet. VMI finished fifth on the men's side and ninth on the women's side.
TRACK AND FIELD
Radford's Farley gets silver
Radford's Mia Farley (Blacksburg) took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:14.30) at the Big South outdoor championships in Asheville, N.C., on Tuesday.
Radford's Kandace McIvor (Jefferson Forest) took third in the heptathlon with 4,079 points.
Radford's Sienna Bailey (Bassett) was third in the 10,000 meters (36:22.51). It was her first time running in that event.
The three-day meet concludes Wednesday.
Ladner, Rush honored
Â黨ÊÓÆµ College's Ophelia Ladner (3.9 GPA) has been named the ODAC women's outdoor track and field scholar-athlete of the year, while Washington and Lee's Keaton Rush (3.9 GPA) earned the honor on the men's side.
W&L's Dana Freeman was named the women's coach of the year after steering the W&L women to the team title at the ODAC outdoor championships.
MEN'S BASKETBALL
Radford adds transfer
Former UMBC forward Louie Jordan announced on Twitter that he is transferring to Radford.
The England native averaged 7.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 22.3 minutes as a Maryland-Baltimore County junior this year. He played in 31 games, starting 30. He made 59 3-pointers. He scored 17 points in a game at Georgia Tech and tallied 16 points against Bryant.
The 6-foot-9 Jordan played his first two college seasons at Weber State.
FOOTBALL
Keydets pick new schools
Three VMI players who entered the transfer portal have picked their new schools.
Receiver Egypt Nelson announced on Twitter his commitment to FBS member Western Michigan. He had 20 catches for a team-high 269 yards as a sophomore last fall.
Offensive guard Thomas Inge, who entered the portal as a graduate transfer, has signed with FCS member Stony Brook.
Safety Tahj Summey, who also entered the portal as a graduate transfer, has committed to FCS member Southeast Missouri State.
SOFTBALL
Maroons cited
Â黨ÊÓÆµ's Carsyn Michaels (Northside) and Maggie McCray (Faith Christian) have been named to the All-ODAC second team.
McCray was 13-7 with a school-record 205 strikeouts in 125 2/3 innings. She broke the ODAC and school single-game records with 20 strikeouts in an 11-inning game.
Michaels hit .305 with 17 RBIs.

SVU wins two Cups
The USA South announced that Southern Virginia has won two of the league’s three Presidents Cups.
SVU won the overall cup for the fourth straight year, based on its success in all sports during the school year. Points were awarded to schools based on the regular-season standings and league tournament results.
SVU also won the women’s cup for the fourth straight year.
Methodist and Pfeiffer tied for the men's cup.
