Friday鈥檚 slate of games marks a pivotal point in the high school football season. Not only is it rivalry week for a handful of teams, but several of The 麻花视频鈥 ranked squads take on 鈥渋n the conversation鈥 teams who are hungry for a signature win.
We could see quite the shakeup this weekend, or those top-10 teams prove they belong where they are. We鈥檒l learn a lot about the 2025 season in Southwest Virginia.
Here are five games to watch in Week 4.
William Fleming (2-1) at Patrick Henry (3-0)
Head-to-head record: PH leads 39-32-4
This year鈥檚 Noel C. Taylor Classic marks the 76th meeting between the crosstown rivals, and 麻花视频 could be in store for an absolute thriller. The Colonels, who won the Mayor鈥檚 Cup last year for the first time since 2014, will be riding high after beating Salem by 21 points last week and having given up just 13 points over their past two games. The Patriots, however, are surging with a 3-0 unit that has dominated on defense, allowing 24 points in three games, and has a key win over E.C. Glass on their ledger.

PH will have to contend with a dynamic Fleming offense that can run the ball three different ways between running back Zhiy Steelman, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns against the Spartans, fullback Davion Faulkner and quarterback Jycer Preston, the latter of whom also mixes in some throws. The Colonels, on the other hand, will be dealing with be a quarterback in Jake Painter who can make deep throws to athletic receivers like Cameron Hairston-Taylor and a powerful running back in Damarion Perdue, who tallied 112 yards and three scores against Franklin County last week.
Floyd County (2-0) at Grayson County (2-1)
Head-to-head record: Grayson County leads 14-7-1
The Buffaloes are a game behind most other teams, getting Week 2 off, but they returned to the field and knocked off Class 4 Blacksburg last week. With running quarterback Sam Phillips at the helm under head coach Tim Cromer, they have a chance to earn a marquee victory over the defending Class 2 state runner-up and move to 3-0 for the first time since 2017.
Since a close Week 1 loss to North Carolina鈥檚 Alleghany, the Blue Devils have re-entered the conversation as a Region 1C contender. They knocked off Carroll County, then routed Tazewell 45-3 behind a multi-faceted offense where nobody jumped off the stat sheet. With unbeaten Virginia High and MED foe George Wythe looming, there鈥檚 no better way to keep momentum going than with a win over an unbeaten Class 2 opponent.
This will mark the first meeting between the two teams since 2014.
Staunton (3-0) at Alleghany (2-0)
Head-to-head record: First meeting
The Cougars make their Shenandoah District debut. And it comes against the defending district champions, who have opened the season undefeated.
There鈥檚 a caveat to that, though. The Storm have allowed just 14 points so far, but their three opponents have a combined record of 1-7. Their win last week was a narrows 14-7 victory over winless Rockbridge County. The wins haven鈥檛 come easy for Alleghany, however, as it needed a big fourth-quarter comeback to down Brookville in its season opener and beat Greenbrier East, West Virginia 36-26 last week. Friday鈥檚 game in Covington will be a good indication of how good the Cougars are this season with Division I QB Des Jordan, and if they can compete in the Shenandoah
District with Riverheads and Wilson Memorial on their schedule.
Magna Vista (3-0) at Franklin County (2-1)

Franklin County receiver Quincy Pruett runs away from a Bassett defender during an Aug. 29 game in Bassett.
Head-to-head record: Tied 13-13
The Eagles beat Salem in Week 2, gave Patrick Henry first-quarter fits in Week 3 and now has a chance to beat a top-tier team this week. Franklin County befuddles opponents with its ability to pass the ball with third-year starter Winston Davenport and have implemented an accompanying run game with Rashaun Hughey. Franklin County has been beaten by Magna Vista the last two years via 20-point and 19-point defeats, but it has a legitimate shot at a second upset in three weeks.
The Eagles will be the first real test for the Warriors of the season. They鈥檝e started off very strong, outscoring opponents 116-13, but their opponents have a combined record of 2-7. Like Franklin County, Magna Vista is dynamic with the passing and running ability of quarterback Simeon Moore and power rushing talents of Ethan Dukes. If it wants to compete for the Region 3D championship in November with the likes of William Byrd and Lord Botetourt, a win over Franklin County is significant.
Glenvar (3-0) at Northside (3-0)
Head-to-head record: Northside leads 1-0
This is just the second-ever meeting between the green and gold squads and first in 56 years. It also just worked out to be undefeated matchup, only raising the anticipation.
The Vikings are a drastically improved squad and have opened the season outscoring opponents, albeit Pulaski County, Cave Spring and Hidden Valley, 135-20, but are looking for a signature win before their Blue Ridge District slate starts. That could come last week as they look to knock off the defending Region 2C champion and get to 4-0 for the first time since 2018.
The Highlanders dropped Hidden Valley from their schedule and picked up a much tougher opponent in the process. Without facing Alleghany this season, and depending on how good Radford and Floyd County are, Northside might be the best team they face before the playoffs. They鈥檝e averaged over 58 points per game so far, beating Galax, Liberty and Cave Spring, and have yet to surrender a touchdown. A Cave Spring field goal is all they鈥檝e allowed.
