Franklin County raced out to a 24-7 lead at halftime and went on to shock Salem 31-21 Friday night at Salem Stadium for its first win over the Spartans since 2011.
Winston Davenport completed 11 of 16 passes for 197 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions for the Eagles, who are 2-0 in a fall season for the first time in 14 years. Rashaun Hughey rushed for 116 yards on 24 carries with a touchdown, while Daniel Ramsey caught three passes for 93 yards, including a 57-yard scoring receptions, and Quincy Pruett tallied four receptions for 63 yards, including a 43-yard TD catch.

Jordan McCadden rushed for 190 yards on 10 carries and had a kickoff return touchdown for the Spartans (0-2), who are 0-2 for the first time since 1997. Kyshead Arrington added 48 yards and a score on 11 carries, and Tanner Overstreet threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jayden Burton.

The Hilltoppers missed a 42-yard field goal with less than 30 seconds remaining as the Patriots held on for the win in Lynchburg.
Cameron Hairston collected six catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns for Patrick Henry (2-0). Jake Painter completed 13 of 24 passes for 216 yards with two TDs and four interceptions, and Damarion Perdue added 48 rushing yards on 14 carries.

William Fleming 49, Albemarle 0
Zhiy Steelman scored four touchdowns and finished with 173 yards on 10 carries as the Colonels clobbered the Patriots in Charlottesville.
Jycer Preston completed 8 of 10 passes for William Fleming (1-1) for 141 yards with two touchdown throws to Zion Baskerville, who collected 72 yards on two receptions. Davion Faulkner added 54 yards and a score on seven carries.
Fleming hosts Salem (0-2) next week.
Blacksburg 36, James River 26
Sam Szefc tallied three touchdowns as the Bruins topped the Knights in their first-ever meeting.
Szefc completed 10 of 12 passes for 140 yards and threw a touchdown pass to Mitchell Linkous for Blacksburg (2-0), which is 2-0 for the first time since 2018. Szefc also rushed for 72 yards and another two scores on eight carries. Jaxon Keys collected 93 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries, and Luke Mann added a rushing TD.
Gavin Binns scored three touchdowns for James River (1-1).
Blacksburg is at Floyd County (1-0) next week. James River hosts Parry McCluer (2-0).
Alleghany 27, Brookville 26
The Cougars scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to earn a come-from-behind win over the Bees in Covington.
Des Jordan went 12-of-14 for 119 yards and two touchdowns for Alleghany (1-0), while rushing for 125 yards and another score on 18 carries. Carter Nicely rushed for 124 yards on 23 carries and scored a touchdown. Jaquin Godfrey and Sarge Persinger hauled in touchdown receptions, with Persinger's the game-winning score with 1:36 remaining.
Alleghany travels to West Virginia next to take on Greenbrier East (1-0).
William Byrd 65, Hidden Valley 3
Jamez Toler scored four touchdowns and finished with 157 yards on eight carries as the Terriers trounced the Titans in Vinton.
Cannin Lutz went 4-of-4 for 138 yards and a touchdown for William Byrd (2-0). Gray Matthews had a 75-yard touchdown run, and Kevin Green caught two passes, both touchdowns, for 102 yards.
Jake Johnson hit a 25-yard field goal for Hidden Valley (0-2), which extended its losing streak to 14. Oliver Lichtenstein went 9-of-20 for 93 yards, and Luke Emory caught two passes for 46 yards.
William Byrd is at Christiansburg (0-2) next week.
Northside 27, Cave Spring 0
The Vikings rushed for 263 yards and shut out the Knights at Bogle Stadium.
Iziah Logan collected 107 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries for Northside (2-0), while Casey Hall notched 116 yards and a score on 18 carries. Jon Reddicks added a rushing TD.
Timmy Cox had a 50-yard interception return for Cave Spring (0-2).
Northside returns to Bogle Stadium to face Hidden Valley (0-2) next week. Cave Spring faces Glenvar (2-0) in Salem.
Gretna 48, Bassett 41
The Hawks scored a touchdown with 27.7 seconds left to beat the Bengals in a shootout.
David Cook racked up five touchdowns, three passing and two rushing, for Bassett (0-2), all in the first half. Javarus Faulkner, Camden Alley and Austin Ratcliffe caught touchdown passes, and Makhi Valentine added a rushing score.
Bassett is at Dan River (1-1) next week.
Grayson County 28, Carroll County 14
The Blue Devils built a 21-0 halftime lead en route to a win over the Cavaliers in Hillsville.
Parker Dowell rushed for 129 yards on eight carries and scored on a 72-yard touchdown run for Grayson County (1-1). Maverik Goad completed 5 of 7 passes for 48 yards with an 18-yard touchdown pass Dowell and a 55-yard touchdown run.
Ayden Dickerson rushed for 134 yards on 15 carries for Carroll County (1-1). Klay Dalton and Dane Leonard tallied rushing touchdowns.
Grayson County is at Tazewell (0-2) next week. Carroll County heads to Galax (0-2).
Magna Vista 36, Martinsville 0
Simeon Moore collected four touchdowns as the Warriors blanked the Bulldogs in Ridgeway.
Moore completed 9 of 17 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns to Tyler Martin for Magna Vista (2-0). Ethan Dukes ran for 106 yards and a score on 17 carries.聽
Da'Veono Lowe went 7-of-17 for 78 yards for Martinsville (1-1). Kenyon Reid picked up 18 yards on nine carries.

The Cougars scored 19 straight points to pull away from the Bulldogs on the road.
Maddox Thompson scored twice on the ground and finished with 60 yards on 14 carries for Pulaski County (1-1). Bryant Nottingham added 75 yards and a score on eight carries.聽

The Cavaliers knocked off their Bedford County rival in Moneta.

Grayson Sheets tallied three catches for 58 yards for Staunton River (1-1) and caught a touchdown pass from Patrick Chewning, who went 4-of-8 for 58 yards. C.J. Locklier rushed for 27 yards on seven carries. Staunton River hosts Liberty (1-1) next week.
Turner Ashby 44, Rockbridge County 6
The Wildcats are 0-2 for the third straight season after falling to Knights in Lexington.
Andrew Kelly scored the lone touchdown for Rockbridge County (0-2), which faces Staunton (1-0) next week. Kelly finished with 89 yards on 19 carries, while Taylan Tyree went 4-of-9 for 46 yards.
Abingdon 28, Christiansburg 9
The Blue Demons fell behind 21-3 at halftime and moved to 0-2 for the first time in a fall season since 2017 with a loss to the Falcons.
Jeremiah Barnes threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Trent Byrd for Christiansburg (0-2) and Mason King kicked a 24-yard field goa.
Christiansburg hosts William Byrd (2-0) next week.
Glenvar 56, Liberty 0
Brody Dawyot scored five touchdowns as the Highlanders blasted the Minutemen in Bedford.聽
Dawyot went 9-of-14 for 140 yards and two touchdowns for Glenvar(2-0), while rushing for 130 yards on 10 carries with three touchdowns. Cal Vaughan had three catches for 62 yards and two touchdowns, Tre Dawyot had five catches for 62 yards and Ranger Swanson scored three touchdowns on the ground.
Glenvar hosts Cave Spring (0-2) next week. Liberty travels to Moneta to face Staunton River (1-1).
Giles 34, Radford 21
Jalen Miller ran for 206 yards and scored four touchdowns on 34 carries as the Spartans stunned the Bobcats.

Peyton Dobbins completed 13 of 26 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns for Radford (1-1). Trenton Carter caught four passes for 94 yards with two touchdowns and had a 75-yard kickoff return touchdown.聽

After a scoreless first quarter, the Indians tallied four touchdowns in the second en route to a win over the Mustangs in Elliston.
Chaz Penwright completed 10 of 16 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns for Rural Retreat (2-0), and added a rushing score. Jake Rollyson had a 41-yard touchdown reception, a 68-yard touchdown run and finished with 67 yards on two carries. Trevor Shelton earned six catches for 97 yards and a score.
Chase Bierman threw a touchdown pass for Eastern Montgomery (0-2) and finished 4-of-13 for 34 yards.
Rural Retreat hosts Eastside (3-0) next week. Eastern Montgomery hosts Northwood (1-0).
Buffalo Gap 50, Bath County 0
The Chargers were held to under 100 yards of offense and gave up 322 yards on defense in a loss to the Bison in Swoope.
Hunter Kirby had 36 rushing yards for 13 carries for Bath County (1-1), which suffered its largest defeat in four seasons. Owen Perdue had a fumble recovery on defense.
Bath County has next week off.
Craig County 56, Bland County 0
Carter Calfee recorded two punt return touchdowns and finished with four total touchdowns as the Rockets blasted the Bears in Rocky Gap.
Calfee's returns went for 58 and 63 yards. He rushed for 150 yards with two touchdowns on eight carries for Craig County (2-0). Jerry Smith added 78 yards and two scores on four carries, while Noah Paxton tacked on 63 rushing yards and a score on seven carries and threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Cregger.
Craig County is off next week. Bland County (0-2) is at Twin Valley (1-1).
Narrows 28, Holston 14
Cooper Helvey and Elijah Knoetze combined for 304 rushing yards and four touchdowns as the Green Waves beat the Cavaliers in Damascus.
Helvey collected 161 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries for Narrows (1-1), while Knoetze tallied 143 yards and two scores on 14 carries.
Narrows hosts Chilhowie (2-0) next week.

Nathan Glass totaled five touchdowns as the Fighting Blues rolled past the Panthers in Buena Vista.
Glass completed 9 of 15 passes for 196 yards and four touchdowns for Parry (2-0), and ran for 80 yards and a score on seven carries. Jacob Shafer rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, and caught two touchdown passes.

Wise County Central 19, Marion 7
The Warriors scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to beat the Scarlet Hurricanes.
Ethan Hylton rushed for 73 yards on 15 carries for Marion (0-2) and scored its only touchdown on a 5-yard run in the second quarter.
George Wythe 48, Fort Chiswell 10
Isaac Smith threw three touchdown passes as the Maroons throttled the Pioneers.
Smith went 5-of-13 for 125 yards for George Wythe (1-1). Ashton Crigger had three catches for 59 yards and two touchdowns, and J'Mere Rivens added a receiving score. Cade Bralley rushed for 118 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns, and Caden Golliher added two rushing scores.
Chase Hetherington threw a 79-yard touchdown pass to Nolan Maxwell in the third for Fort Chiswell (0-2). Dakota Bailey kicked a 24-yard field goal.

The Raiders erased a 17-0 halftime deficit to beat the Warriors in Fredericksburg.
