Montgomery County has named a Virginia Tech graduate with experience in the public and private sectors as county engineer.
Meredith Jones assumed the role June 24, moving into the county government from working for the town of Christiansburg as assistant director of engineering.

For the county, Jones will oversee the county鈥檚 capital projects and manage its storm sewer system.
鈥淎s I serve the citizens of Montgomery County, I look forward to bringing a unique understanding and perspective to my role as County Engineer given my experiences in both the private and public sectors,鈥 Jones said in a news release.
鈥淭he county is very fortunate to have Meredith join our team,鈥 said Scott Woodrum, Montgomery County assistant county administrator. 鈥淢eredith鈥檚 depth of knowledge and valued skillset will greatly enhance the county鈥檚 strategic plans and goals.鈥
Jones previously worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a transportation program manager, as a vice president for Eden & Associates, and as a senior consultant for WK Dickson & Co., which acquired Eden.
She鈥檚 also served as an adjunct faculty member for Virginia Tech in civil engineering, and as a project manager for Toms Creek Investors LC and as chief of engineering for the town of Blacksburg. She also owned and operated MJ Services Inc. from 2007-14.
Jones holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Virginia Tech, and serves on the Virginia Tech Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Board.
